Back by popular demand, an incredible afternoon featuring Vitaphone Variety Film Shorts of the 1920s followed by live musical whoopee from Janet Klein.

 

Janet’s favorite shorts feature vaudevillians, bands, novelty dancers and comedians. In many cases these rare films give us the only possible glimpse of the world’s most treasured vaudeville acts.

Like comfort food at a restaurant, Tom Bopp offers an afternoon of Pot Roast for the Ears.

Tom’s spontaneity revives a century of music from the Civil War through the 1950s, recalling singers like Crosby, Astaire, and Chevalier.

His piano stylings, vocals and banter will drive away the little irritants outside the theater door, and put a smile on your face.

Pianist/singer Carl Sonny Leyland is known internationally as a specialist in Boogie Woogie piano and has been inducted into the Boogie Woogie Hall of Fame.  A great improviser, Sonny’s shows are a veritable grab bag of musical surprises. Whether it’s ragtime, swing or the barrelhouse blues, Boogie Woogie is the heart and soul of his style.

Born in New York City, and currently based in Los Angeles, Holy Crow Jazz Band performs traditional American jazz music from the 1920s throughout the 1930s.  The band’s repertoire includes many instrumental pieces that were written or made popular by great musicians of the past such as King Oliver, Kid Ory, Bix Beiderbecke, Jabbo Smith, as well as original compositions.
